First things first: you want to know what you’re actually applying for. It’s impossible to capture every nuance of a role – especially at a rapidly growing company like Mews – but if we had to distil it down to a job description (which we do, because this is a job description), it would be this:
We’re building a dynamic and influential commercial finance function from scratch and you might just be the crucial piece of the puzzle we’re looking for. In this role you will help us figure out which FP&A tool to buy and implement and manage the flows of our data into the tool. You will be the commercial finance team’s guru in all things data and challenge the status quo in how we understand the company’s numbers. You’ll support our monthly rolling forecast process alongside our team of finance business partners and drive continuous improvement in how we use data to drive informed decisions throughout the company.
Our commercial finance team don’t just stick numbers in spreadsheets; we inform, challenge and influence better decision-making across the company. As a tech (Saas + Fintech) company we’ve got loads of data but we’re not leveraging it to the max. In this role, you’ll be focused on driving value out of the data with a particular focus on influencing how we use it to inform our financial planning and business decisions.
We currently use Excel files with some VBA and SQL to push and pull data into our own planning database. But you’ll help us transition onto a new planning tool and consolidate the data sources which are most relevant to our continuous reforecasting and decision-making support. The company also uses PowerBI and Looker so you’ll have lots of opportunities to develop skills with these tools and leverage them to help us direct the business.

We work with some amazing hotels, including Sage Hospitality Group, Machefert Group, The Student Hotel, and Tsogo Sun Hotels.
